Sold Instrument Archive
This banjo was sold under the Ebblewhite brand but was made by the Arthur Windsor,
It has a substantial wood rim with a birds eye maple finishing veneer to the outside. It is unusual as the rim is edged with a hard wood which is shaped to form "tone ring" .
The neck is walnut with an ebony finger board with Windsor style position markers.
The head stock is the simple spade style seen on many Windsor banjos with a 3/16" ebony overlay.
The original metal friction tuners have been replaced with a set of Gotoh orbital geared tuners and a matching geared fifth string tuner.
It is set up and ready to play with strings 2.5mm above the fret with a 1/2" bridge that could be raised with a 9/16" bridge for claw hammer
John Henry Ebblewhite 1829 - 1901 was a banjo maker, his son Albert V Ebblewhite 1871 -1966 carried on the business after his father's death.
